The 56-year-old British royal wants Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie to take on full-time royal duties and be given new accommodation at Kensington Palace but his older brother Charles, 67, is said to be against this.

A source told The Sunday Express: "He has long argued that as the only 'blood princesses' in the family, Beatrice and Eugenie deserve proper royal roles like their cousins, along with the same standard of accommodation at Kensington Palace. He fears that they will be totally sidelined when the Queen dies."

Andrew allegedly feels his daughters are being "overshadowed" by Charles' sons Princes William and Harry, William's wife Duchess Catherine and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The insider added: "He believes his daughters are already being overshadowed by William, Kate and Harry and the situation will get worse as Prince George and Princess Charlotte get older."

Andrew reportedly wrote to Queen Elizabeth about his concerns and her staff have passed the matter on to Charles, who has been arguing for a more "streamlined" royal family when he ascends the throne.

The insider added: "The Prince of Wales is already conscious that he divides opinion more than his mother.

"The last thing he wants is additional criticism by keeping peripheral royals on the public payroll."
