Prince William

Prince William

Prince William is to represent Queen Elizabeth for the first time during a state visit by the South Korean President.

The 31-year-old royal is preparing for a life of full-time royal duties after recently completing his post in the Royal Air Force and will represent his grandmother when president Park Geun-hye visits London to unveil a Korean War memorial.

The prince will join South Korea's first woman president at a ceremony in Victoria Embankment Gardens, London, for the opening of the monument.

The sculpture is a scale model of a memorial in the South Korean capital, Seoul, which commemorates almost 100,000 British servicemen and women who served in the conflict between Communist-backed forces in North Korea and US-led United Nations forces in the South from 1950 to 1953.

New parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are not yet full-time working royals, and as such William will have no further part in Park's state visit from November 5 to 7. Duchess Catherine is still on maternity leave, and will not accompany her husband to the unveiling.

During her visit, Park will be a guest of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace.
