Princess Diana

Princess Diana

A new biopic of Princess Diana is "completely wrong" according to her former lover.

The movie, 'Diana', focuses on the late Princess of Wales' relationship with Doctor Hasnat Khan, but he feels it does not tell the story in full and correctly.

He told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: "I don't see this movie doing well at all. It is based on gossip and Diana's friends talking about a relationship that they didn't know much about, and some of my relatives who didn't know much about it either. It is all based on hypotheses and gossip."

The film covers the final two years of Diana's life before her death in a car crash in 1997. Naomi Watts plays the royal, while Dr. Khan is portrayed by Naveen Andrews.

The film is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, but Dr. Khan said even a single still from the movie has made him believe he will be portrayed wrongly and has put him off ever watching it.

He added: "You could tell from that picture that it is all just presumed about how we would behave with each other, and they have got it completely wrong.

"There wasn't any hierarchy in our relationship. She wasn't a Princess and I wasn't a doctor. We were friends, and normal people stand like friends with each other."

The doctor had a two year relationship with Diana during which they are rumoured to have discussed marriage. After they split Diana started a relationship with Dodi Al Fayed, whom she was with on the night they died when their car crashed while being chased by paparazzi photographers in Paris.
