The tech giant hosted its virtual event on Tuesday (15.09.20), but there was no sign of the new iPhone 12, which is usually unveiled in September.

The all-new Apple Watch 6 features, for the first time, a pulse oximeter to detect blood oxygen levels by using red and infrared light to measure the colour of owners' blood.

The will help with research for respiratory diseases and Covid-19.

The wearable comes with a price tag of £379 ($490), and will be available from September 19.

A high-end version, which has GPS and cellular capabilities, is priced at £479 ($599).

The budget version, the Apple Watch SE, costs £269 ($279) and only has GPS, but if GPS and cellular functions are desired, it's £319 ($329)

Elsewhere, they announced the Fitness+ service, which comes with programmed workouts run by leading fitness experts.

This is included in the Apple One bundle, which is £29.95 ($29.95) per month for the premium option or for £14.95 ($14.95) per month with fewer services included.

What's more, Apple unveiled their A14 Bionic chip for the iPad Air 4, which starts from £579 ($599).

Apple hailed it as "by far the most advanced we've ever made" with transistors so tiny they "challenge the laws of physics".

The company added: "We're talking about a scale so small, they're measured in atoms."

As for when to expect the iPhone 12, Apple previously announced that it will be delayed by a month to October, due to Covid-19 production setbacks

During an investors meeting on July 30, Apple executive Luca Maestri said: "Last year we started selling new iPhones in late September.

"This year we expect supply to be available a few weeks later."

It's expected that there will be four versions of the iPhone 12 released, including their first 5G-ready device.
