The former US President was suspended from Twitter and Facebook after January's riots at the US Capitol but according to Trump's adviser, he is already planning a return and his platform will be "the hottest ticket in social media".

Jason Miller told Fox News: "I do think that we're going to see President Trump returning to social media in probably about two or three months."

Trump was on Twitter for more than a decade and at one stage, he had around 90 million followers on the platform.

However, his tweets attracted controversy and Twitter came under fire for not doing more to censor his controversial remarks.

News of Trump's potential return to social media comes shortly after Twitter asked its users for input on how it should handle world leaders.

The social networking site wants to get the public's opinion on the best way to deal with world leaders on the platform, with a particular focus on those who violate the site's rules.

In a blog post, Twitter said: "Politicians and government officials are constantly evolving how they use our service, and we want our policies to remain relevant to the ever-changing nature of political discourse on Twitter and protect the health of the public conversation.

"That's why we're reviewing our approach to world leaders and seeking your input."
