The new policy - which was unveiled at the end of 2020 - meant new high quality images and videos would count towards your 15 GB storage, with new Docs, Sheets and Slides files also included in that.

The tech giant has now confirmed a slight delay, which will give certain users the time they need to make arrangements.

The June 1 deadline this summer for multimedia content is still in place, but paying Workspace customers will get until February 1 next year.

From that point, office software files will then count towards the storage capacity.

There will also be new tools for administrators to help people keep an eye on the status of their storage being used.

However, it's important to note the delay won't apply to free Google accounts, and those users will have to stick to the original timeline.
