The vaccine is being rolled out across the country and the tech giant has pledged to support the drive, announcing plans that are geared towards speeding up the process.

In a blog post, Sundar Pichai, the Gooogle CEO, said: "While there is much uncertainty still ahead, the development of multiple safe vaccines in such a short time gives us reason for hope.

"We recognize that getting vaccines to people is a complex problem to solve, and we're committed to doing our part. (sic)"

The announcement comes shortly after Amazon revealed it's keen to help distribute coronavirus vaccines in the US.

The E-commerce company - which was founded by Jeff Bezos in 1994 - recently wrote a letter to new US President Joe Biden, saying it was ready to assist the government with its rollout of the vaccine.

In a letter to Biden, the company said it was ready to "leverage our operations, information technology, and communications capabilities and expertise" to assist in the rollout.

Amazon added: "Our scale allows us to make a meaningful impact immediately in the fight against Covid-19 and we stand ready to assist you in this effort."
