How much do you drink on holiday?

68% of Brits reveal that they drink more on holiday than they would when they are at home, with a worrying 18% drinking 7 drinks on an average day abroad. This equates to four times more than the recommended daily amount. Trip Advisor found that 6% even consume up to ten drinks on one day!

The study found that Brits like to drink a lot more than their European friends, which has branded us a nation of boozers. As small as 1% of Italians and 4% of Germans will drink up to this much in one sitting. One in twelve Russians, 8% said that they would drink this much, and 9% of French would do the same, despite the temptation of all the lovely wine on tap!

Holidays are a time to do things in excess, rest, swim, dance, eat and clearly for Brits this includes drinking. 43% of Bits admit to eating badly while they are on holiday, however 19% stick to healthy eating and in some cases will eat healthier while they are away.

It would seem that Brits are not concerned about suffering from health problems while they are away, with 45% booking their holiday without checking out the medial facilities on campus. 56% said that this would not influence where they stayed while on holiday however, 48% have had to use some form of health care while they were away.

“The ever-increasing pressure and stresses of daily life often means that a holiday is the only time we can really let loose and relax. While taking a holiday to recharge the batteries is a great idea, British holiday goers should be careful not to over-indulge, or else they may end up needing another holiday to recover from the excesses of the last one,” says TripAdvisor spokesperson, James Kay.
