As COVID-19 restrictions have eased throughout the UK, Jersey, the largest Channel Island continues to extend a special warm welcome to visitors. We decided to revisit and to experience the place for ourselves and how it is recovering from the challenges of the pandemic.

For our visit we chose to stay in the beautiful in the island capital St Helier.

The Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa St Helier

The welcome – One of the most important factors to impress me when it comes to a hotel stay is the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. From the moment we pulled up outside we were immediately greeted by the Guest Services Manager Andrew who sorted out our parking spot before grabbing our luggage and taking us through to the check-in.

At check-in the friendly staff quickly and efficiently dealt with the booking in procedures and within 10 minutes, we were handed our keys to our room. Andrew then took us on a tour of the hotel, giving us, all the information we would need during our stay, including the location of the in-house restaurant, where and when breakfast would be served, and how to access the outdoor veranda. Andrew then took us through to the spa and pool area explaining opening times and the treatments available. Tour completed he showed us to our room where our luggage awaited.

The Room: The double room itself was a delight, welcoming, spacious, and with stunning views, west over St Aubin’s Bay and Elizabeth Castle and with a balcony it was perfect for sitting out with a drink watching the sun set.

Inside, a super king-sized bed that was incredibly comfortable and luxurious with pillows that were exactly the sort you love to lay your head onto and drift off into a blissful sleep. There was plenty of wardrobe space, a dressing table/desk, and a cabinet containing a fridge and coffee machine. In front of the window was a table and a pair of luxurious chairs to relax in.

Attached was a gorgeous en-suite bathroom, with a roomy shower and loads of space for all of your bathroom gadgets. Plenty of luxury toiletries were also provided to pamper yourself  during your stay.

Now it’s always the personal details that make your stay special so when I spotted on the desk a slate with “welcome message written in white chocolate and three Jersey chocolates along with a card, hand-written by Hotel Manager Ross, wishing us ‘a very warm welcome and a wonderful and enjoyable stay on the Island”, such a lovely touch and so personal!

The managers and staff certainly ticked all the ‘Warm welcome boxes’
