A typical music festival scene

While the music festival season is about to kick off in the UK, it seems that music fans are going all over the continent for their fix, hovering up all the hotel rooms as they go.

While we might have always thought of camping as the way to go with festivals it seems more and more festival goers abroad are ditching the old cloth covering for the comforts of a hotel, with local hotels getting massive spikes in bookings all across the continent, according to LateRooms.com.

The biggest spike can be seen in Croatia, where Zagreb's hotels have seen a 1500% increase in bookings from last year to see this year's edition of the INMusic Festival.

Portugal has also seen big boosts from 2012, with both Lisbon and Porto getting 325% and 116% more bookings than last year.

Lynda Matthews, the Offline Marketing Manager at LateRooms.com, said: “2013 is going to be extremely profitable for hotels near European festival sites, and we have already seen bookings growing at faster rates year on year as the popularity of these festivals increase.

“More and more of our British customers want to combine the music event with a short break to Europe and we are pleased that our vast array of European hotels can provide a room for their every need, be it to get clean, treat themselves to a gourmet meal, or just rest their head on the pillow after a day of taking in the music!”
