Friends watching TV

It has been found by an online travel agency that Brits refuse to lose track of their favourite shows while they are away, especially the soaps!

The website Sunshine conducted the poll looking into the habits of Brits while abroad. All of the participant has been on holiday in the last 12 months and were asked questions about what they did on their last holiday.

When asked, ‘on your last holiday, did you attempt to keep up with TV shows that you’d normally watch back home?’ 46% of those taking part said ‘yes’.

More specifically, the participants were asked what TV shows thy keep up with and the answers were:

· Soap operas – 42%

· Reality TV – 31%

· News – 22%

· Sports – 17%

· Dramas – 14%

Those who admitted that they watched their favourites while they were away were asked how they gained access to them and 39% said that they had booked a hotel that provided English TV channels, while 13% looked for English TV channels bars and restaurants and 24% said that they streamed the shows online.

When asked how long they spent doing this per day on their holiday the average answer was 1 hour.

Chris Clarkson, co-founder of the Sunshine website, said:

“When you’re on holiday, you should forget all about everything back home in the UK, whether that is work, the stresses of everyday life or your favourite TV shows. If you’re really that bothered about missing certain programmes, make sure you record them or ask a family member or friend to.

“There are also services online now that let you catch up with TV shows, so don’t spend precious holiday hours waiting to find out how the next episode of Eastenders pans out. Holidays are too short to spend them watching TV, so leave that until you get back!”
