Arriving at Alavaston Hall was a pleasure to the eye- beautiful greenery surrounding the hotel, fabulous water features and well-presented colourful flowers to add to the picturesque entry that would sure impress anyone.

Alvaston Hall Hotel

Check in was fast and straight forward and we were handed a guide to the hotel along with an entertainment package for the weekend. It's safe to say that there will not be a dull moment during your stay, with activities ranging through to archery, rifle shooting, dance, quizzes, chef master classes, pool and a Jacuzzi area. If you're looking to pamper yourself during your stay, visit the leisure centre which offers a range of beauty treatments (extra charge). You can spoil yourself some more at the gift shop with jewellery, keepsakes and clothing. If you've forgotten to pack your toiletries or tablets, the shop will save the day with a selection of these necessities available too.

Rooms with balconys

My room was very spacious and clean. The décor was modern and one of the better views, compared to the other rooms. With its very own patio area that starred out onto the garden which carried on for miles onto the golf course. The other rooms come with their own balcony, but if you're looking to have a couple of drinks enjoying the sunshine with a little more leg room, these rooms would be more than ideal (My room was 404). The room definitely ticked all the boxes and came with your usual tea/coffee set-up, with custard creams and shortcakes to enjoy with your cuppa! Complementary toiletries, hairdryer, extra pillows and an iron were also provided and I have to say that the bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept in allowing me to snooze like a baby!

Room with a view

The hotel is located close to beautiful Chester, so if you want to venture out and enjoy a spot of retail therapy or maybe a little history, Alvaston Hall offer days out for the residents. All you need to do is inform the staff that you're interested and off you go! If you want to head into town it would take around 15/20 minutes by car or there is a bus service which runs from Monday-Saturday, the hotel will provide you with a bus timetable if requested.

The Grove Cabaret restaurant

The Grove Cabaret restaurant has recently had a makeover and is the perfect set-up for the entertainment and to enjoy your dinner. The hotel offers a 3 course set menu meal as well as a vegetarian option, with a reasonable variety of different dishes or you can help yourself to a carvery or curry depending on what your taste buds are calling for! Adam took care of myself and my mother during our meal, he was very polite and helpful. Scarlett also saw to our drinks and made sure that we always had a drink at hand. The most impressive part of my meal was the dessert. Although I am a dessert lover, this really was delicious. A trio of chocolates that didn't over-face or leave me yearning for something else.

Trio of Chocolates

The entertainment after dinner consisted of performances from the group 'Smackee' who kept everyone in high spirits with their up-beat songs from all the popular musicals.

Breakfast was also situated in the Grove Cabaret restaurant and you're seated on the same table which you had dinner. I think this is handy as it means everyone isn't wondering around trying to make their mind up were to sit. The breakfast was well displayed and had a wide range of options from a Full-English breakfast to pancakes, cereal and fruit as well as many juices to choose from. Tea and coffee is brought to you by staff on request. I had the Full-English (of course!) and it was delicious, all cooked to perfection. The one thing that stood out to me was that all the hot food was well covered and labelled at the side, with easy access.

The clientele for the hotel is 50 and above and caters to this age range with the activities and the peaceful surroundings of the luxury hotel, although I enjoyed my stay, I would certainly recommend it to my aunties, uncles and grandparents and re-visit this hotel when I'm older or for an anniversary.
