Travel News: Brits Opt for Quality Over Quantity This Bank Holiday Weekend

When it comes to a Bank Holiday weekend, Brits use it as an excuse to escape routine and go on a short break.

Now, new research reveals that those breaks are becoming even shorter in a bid to extended on luxury and cut back on the time period.

It used to be that you’d jet off on the Friday and come back on the Monday when holidaying for a Bank Holiday weekend, but now this had changed.

Lastminute.com has found that there has been a sharp rise in people choosing to do a Sunday night only stay when on a short break.

This correlates with people choosing to bump up the luxury and stay in 4 and 5* hotels rather than getting a cheaper hotel for a longer amount of time.

The website found that Sunday night only bookings were up by a staggering 70 per cent from last year across European city break destinations.

Barcelona and Amsterdam proved to be very popular within this new holidaying trend.

Sunday night only stays were up by 27 per cent in Barcelona and an incredible 183 per cent in Amsterdam!

Stays in 4* accommodation was up by 18 per cent in Barcelona and 17 per cent in Amsterdam.

So it seems the Brits are choosing luxury over time when it comes to Bank Holiday breaks but what will you be doing?
