New Travelodge room

New Travelodge room

Following my disappointing visit to one of the Travelodges elsewhere, I was hoping that this newly refurbished accommodation would not disappoint, and I didn’t.

The hotel was easy to find via sat nav and the sign at the top of the building is easy to see when driving around central Manchester. The parking is secure, manned throughout the night and right next to the hotel, costing a total of six pounds to leave your car there overnight.

When we entered I was surprised to see no one at the desk, however was faced by a machine to check in with instead. This requested your last name and booking reference, how many were staying and an option to book breakfast. This all worked fine until it had to create a key card for our room, however something went wrong and we had to call for a member of staff. They were very fast in coming to our aid and gave us a key card and told us about breakfast times, evening meals and snack and bar service that ran through the night. He was very helpful and informative.

Despite it being late, with only 15 minutes of the evening meal service left, the staff still cooked us a meal. We both had half a roast chicken and chips, served with a salad garnish. The meal was a good portion, well-seasoned and of high quality.

The snack service running from 10-5am is ideal or those out on the town coming back in the early hours to eat, if they do not want to contend with the queues at the take aways when the pubs kick out.

The room was immaculate with a good view of the city. There were tea and coffee making facilities, a 19inch TV, extra pillows, a bottle opener and open wardrobe with hangers and a desk.

The décor was clean and modern and the bathroom, had a large shower and free soap and was also very clean.

The hotel is ideally located in the middle of Manchester, so frequent access to buses and taxis if you want to go on a night out. The hotel provides irons and ironing boards at your request. It can potentially cater for stag dos, hen dos and business.

I am impressed with the changes that have been made in the refurbishment of the Travelodge brand and proves everything that one might expect from a stay, function, comfort and good value for money. For anyone visiting Manchester on business or pleasure this is the place to lay your head down!
