Terry McAuliffe

Terry McAuliffe, the Governor of Virginia and former campaign chairman for both Bill and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaigns, will be live during his first visit to the UK in his role as Governor and will be taking us through the best Virginia has to offer.

It may surprise some people to know of the close ties between the US state of Virginia and Britain. But in fact, the East Coast state was the first British settlement, and it has a rich history, from the first town, named after the King of England, Jamestown, to the story of Pocahontas and John Smith.

From a day at the beach, a spin on exhilarating roller coasters, to camping in the woods, Virginia has something for everyone, not to mention their delicious culinary fare – Virginia is famous for the hams and seafood. It is also one of the largest wine producing states in America and is even said to be the home of the peanut!

Virginia will soon be opening the doors to the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, following the growth of country music from grass roots, to the multi-million dollar industry it is now. The Birthplace of Country Music Museum tells the history of the 1927 Bristol Sessions recordings, explores the ways in which sound technology shaped their success and has evolved, and highlights how this rich musical heritage lives on in today’s music.
