Robert Pattinson has had to drop out of his new movie Parts Per Billion due to a scheduling conflict with Twilight sequel New Moon.

The twenty two year old shot to fame at the end of the year with the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyers' popular novel Twilight,

Due to the movies major success, it grossed $70 million in it's opening weekend in the US $20 million more than expected, the sequel New Moon has been hurried along by Summit Entertainment .

Nicholas Frenkel, Pattinson's agent told MTV:"Unfortunately, the prep time and production schedule on New Moon haven't left enough time for Robert to work on Parts Per Billion in the first quarter of this year."

New Moon follows Kristen Stewart's human character Bella and her vampire lover Edward, played by Robert Pattinson, separated because of circumstances and Edward's self-doubt.

However Catherine Hardwicke announced that she would not be returning to direct the sequel last week after claiming that the late 2009 or early 2010 scheduled release date was too soon and she felt that she would need to spend longer on the project. Chris Weitz has taken over directing duties.
