Amanda Holden

Amanda Holden

Amanda Holden is back for another year on Britain’s Got Talent, one of the two remaining judges who’ve seen everything the great British public could throw at them for the last six years. Before the new series kicks off this Saturday, she spoke about this year’s competition.

How does it feel to be back on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel for another year?

Amazing, I always have such a good laugh and it’s the only time that my tummy gets exercise from laughing so much.

Are you proud to have been a judge on every series of Britain’s Got Talent?

I am honoured to have been part of such an incredible show for so long. It has put talent shows back on the map and showcased what we do best on a global stage! We have made history.

What’s it been like being reunited with David, Alesha and Simon?

Absolutely great, especially Alesha. She’s my sister in arms and together we can fight anything. David and Simon? Not so much

What are your favourite things about David?

He is really easy to talk to, he’s very thoughtful and, despite his dark and strange ways, he is a gentleman! Also his ability to ask the questions that you’re dying to ask but your filter stops you. David has no filter.

What are your favourite things about Alesha?

Her laugh and her feistiness. She's a girl’s girl. We have had such a laugh and are a team this year. I am proud to call her my friend.

What are your favourite things about Simon?

Well apart from his good looks, charm and private plane, I love his cheek! He is always up to no good and I find it hysterical!

What are your favourite memories from last year’s show?

Ashleigh and Pudsey winning the show! It was Simon’s dream come true to have a dog win. The Loveable Rogues were great too and Jonathan and Charlotte have had a really good year. We found some great talent last year.

What type of act are you hoping will win Britain’s Got Talent this year?

I really want a comedy act to win, maybe a stand-up.

What do you think of this year’s talent?

I think this year, more than any other year, we have had real variety. Personally, I have had the best fun out of all of the seven years I have worked on the show.

Without giving too much away, what have been some of the best acts during this year’s auditions?

Well we have had a lot of different animals. We have had a raccoon and a donkey audition this year!

And the worst?

There was a mother and son act which everyone absolutely hated but I loved it because it was so funny and ironic.

Are there any surprises we should look out for?

Yes, but I am not going to tell you or they wouldn’t be a surprise.

What is your advice to this year's contestants?

Be ballsy, make a real effort with what you’re wearing and be prepared. Also, don’t under rehearse. This is a huge moment and you should go for it and not cock it up!

What are you most looking forward to for the live shows?

The frocks! I love choosing my dresses. Walking down the stairs is a huge buzz.

Is it tricky to look glamorous on the red carpet when it’s freezing cold?

We are only ever on the red carpet for two minutes when doing Britain’s Got Talent and I have someone standing by with a coat in the wings! Alesha and I would get big fashion no no-s if we turned up in our anoraks, although I did dare us both to do it!!

Britain’s Got Talent begins this Saturday April 13th on ITV.
