With the dawning of a new month comes the return and debut of a whole host of exciting television shows. April 2021 is no different, so we’ve picked out our three favourite series making a comeback, as well as three that are about to make their big premiere!

Grey’s Anatomy, Season 17 - On Sky Witness and NOW from April 7th, 2021

The longest-running medical drama in history is back for a landmark 17th season, with Shonda Rhimes undoubtedly cranking up the high emotion and intensity of episodes as we likely come to some sort of endgame for the fan-favourite characters still involved.

A number of faces from the past have appeared in this season - which has already broadcast in the United States - rewarding those members of the audience who have been watching the show from the very beginning. To be so loyal after all of these years really is something to celebrate!

Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr. and Kevin McKidd are all amongst the returning cast, as well as cameos from Patrick Dempsey, T.R. Knight, Chyler Leigh and Sarah Drew.

Filthy Rich, Season 1 - On Disney+ via Star from April 9th, 2021

The show may have been cancelled after just one season that aired in late 2020 in the United States, but Filthy Rich is still a great watch for anybody who’s looking for a simple laugh and, the return of the always-fantastic Kim Cattrall to the small screen.

Focusing on a mega-rich family that have made their money through a Louisiana-based Christian television network, the relatives are thrown into disarray when the network's founder passes away suddenly in a shock plane crash. Cue plenty of in-family fighting and the arrival of new family members that all want to inherit the founder’s wealth, for their own personal reasons…

Not a show that will have you changing your opinion on the state of the world or anything like that, but certainly one that’s hilarious from beginning to end!

Fear The Walking Dead, Season 6b - On AMC Global from April 12th, 2021

Virginia (Colby Minifie) is becoming increasingly desperate to protect her settlement when Fear The Walker Dead returns, whilst Morgan (Lennie James) is doing his all to free the remaining members of the group. Going head-to-head, audiences will, in the second part of Season 6, get a deeper look at the effects living under Virginia’s rule has had on each of our favourite characters.

Though they all used to see one another as family, surprising new alliances will be formed, whilst other relationships are destroyed and loyalties shift more than we've ever seen before. It’s going to be an eye-opening watch, to say the very least!

Leonardo, Season 1 - On Amazon Prime Video from April 16th, 2021

Aidan Turner takes on the titular role of Leonardo da Vinci in this Sony Pictures Television project, exploring the life and work of the famous Italian artist. With an extraordinary life that may for some have to be seen to be believed, this could be one of the most entertaining series of the year.

Promising “mystery” and “passion” in a previously-untold story, we'll aso see The Undoing star Matilda de Angelis as da Vinci's Renaissance muse, Caterina Da Cremona. The Good Doctor's Freddie Highmore also features as fictional detective, Stefano Giraldi.

Shadow and Bone, Season 1 - On Netflix from April 23rd, 2021

Based on the worldwide best-selling Grishaverse novels by Leigh Bardugo, comes your next big Netflix addiction. Taking place in a war-torn world, Shadow and Bone follows the story of soldier and orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who unleashes a power that may just set her country free.

The mysterious and dangerous Shadow Fold are a constant threat, but Alina finds herself torn from all she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. Are those who pertain to be her allies truly going to remain her friends however, or is everybody involved looking out for themselves only?

Intergalactic, Season 1 - On Sky One and NOW from April 30th, 2021

Parminder Nagra, Eleanor Tomlinson, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Craig Parkinson star in this upcoming Sky Original, written by award-winning showrunner Julie Gearey.

Steyn stars as Ash Harper in Intergalactic; a young cop and galactic pilot who is wrongly convicted of a treasonous crime, before being caught up in a prison breakout that allows a number of convicts to go on the run across the galaxy.

This looks like it could be one of the better Sky Originals to be released, so we can’t wait to see what those working on the series have got up their sleeves!
