Reece Shearsmith is back on ITV with brand new four-part drama Chasing Shadows, and this time he's taking on the role of Asperger's-suffering DS Sean Stone.

The trouble this show immediately has is that whilst Stone's characteristics and personality have been touched upon - 'it might be medical' - because we haven't explicitly been told about his condition, he becomes an unlikeable hero.

That being said, he does also provide some laughs - "When I asked about your husband, I didn't mean I found you attractive. I don't." - whether they're intentional or not is anybody's guess.

He was referring to new colleague Ruth Hattersley, played tremendously by Alex Kingston. A woman who isn't used to dealing with such a unique personality and likes to be kept in the loop at all times.

Quick-paced and intriguing with a cliffhanger ending that would put many others to shame, Chasing Shadows is a must-see for any fan of the crime genre. I have a feeling it's going to deliver in spades going forward.

Chasing Shadows continues Thursdays, 9pm on ITV.
