We may be a year or two away from the eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones, but this week’s incredible season 7 finale had us thinking about what we should expect from the last batch of six episodes and, more importantly, just who will survive to tell the tale that the last seven seasons and beyond has shown viewers. Here are 5 Game of Thrones Deaths We Expect From The Show’s Final Season

1. Cersei Lannister

Cersei is without a doubt the female embodiment of the ‘Mad King’. She’s blown up her enemies when she’s fallen out of favour with them, used others to further her own goal before disposing of them and even in the season 7 finale refused to join her forces with that of her enemies to take out a greater threat, instead relying on their abilities to take out the Night’s King and his army so that she can remain in power on the Iron Throne. Never thinking rationally and instead working so that she can keep a crown on her head, she’s now pushed her brother Jaime away from her and has lost all but a handful of allies. We’d be mighty shocked if she made it to the end of the show and so, we think Cersei’s life will be ending sooner rather than later; probably at the hands of her brother Jaime.

2. Sansa Stark

Sansa has done incredibly well to make it this far in Game of Thrones. Starting out as a naïve child, she’s had to learn a lot in a short space of time, and has gone through some incredibly harrowing experiences to make it to where she is today. We do however think all of the Houses will suffer major blows in the final season, and the most obvious choice for showrunners and creators when it comes to the Starks is Sansa. She’s never been the favourite Stark sister, and Jon isn’t going anywhere after the reveal of his true name and his claim to the Iron Throne. If a Stark is going to be shown the door, it’s going to be Sansa… and it’s going to be very, very emotional.

3. Jaime Lannister

Though we think he’ll be going out a hero, Jaime will still bite the dust by the time season 8 is over. We’re not quite sure how he’ll die – probably on the battlefield where his heart has lay for many years – but we do know that he’ll be fighting for the greater good rather than for power for House Lannister. Jaime has gone through a lot of personality changes throughout the years, and unlike many other characters, most of those changes have been good ones. We hope his death is a peaceful one, but somehow we doubt it.

4. The Mountain

The Mountain versus The Hound is something that has been teased for quite some time now, and whilst many thought we would get Cleganebowl in the season 7 finale, it wasn’t meant to be. The Hound did however tease a future battle, promising his brother that his true end was coming in the future, and that he had known it would end that way all along. This is going to be a mighty fight, and one we’re sure will have millions gripped to the screen.

5. Brienne of Tarth

This could be the saddest death of all. Brienne is probably the purest character in Game of Thrones, with the warrior always standing loyal by those who have done right by her. She’s an incredible fighter but we do think that war brings tragedies, and Brienne is going to be a casualty of the upcoming war. These scenes are going to be some of the hardest to watch if they come to pass.

Game Of Thrones concludes with its eighth season in 2018 or 2019 on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
