We're nearing the end of the weekend, but next week doesn't have to be a drag! There are some brilliant shows kicking off on different networks, and we've put together the best five we could find so you can plan ahead and get your head in gear for an exciting week of firsts.

1) True Detective, Season 2 - Sky Atlantic - Monday, June 22 at 9pm

As an anthology series, True Detective brings a different storyline and set of actors with each season, so don't panic if you didn't see the first season of this critically-acclaimed drama. This time round we have Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughan amongst the big name players. For those of you who stay up through the night, the premiere is being simulcast with America at 2am.

2) Chicago Fire, Season 3 - Sky Living - Tuesday, June 23 at 9pm

Previously airing in October, you'd be forgiven if you didn't realise the series was coming back so soon after the second season. Fan favourite firefighters and medics of Engine 51 make their return to ensure innocent lives are protected in one of the most interesting shows to come out of America in the past few years.

3) Cordon, Season 1 - BBC Four - Saturday, June 27 at 9pm

Antwerp is closed off from the world when a deadly virus seems to get out of control. Perhaps similar to The Strain, Fortitude and Under The Dome, we're hoping for something unique instead of a mash-up of all of the three aforementioned. We'll give it a chance!

4) Top Gear, Season Final Special - BBC Two - Sunday, June 28 at 8pm

It's time to bid farewell to Jeremy Clarkson. He had his removal from the series coming after a string of ridiculous offences, but it will be strange to see the motoring show without him at the helm. Composed of footage shot before the "fracas", additional voiceovers were recorded over to add to the episode. Despite the dismissal, it's unlikely this will be the last we'll see of Clarkson with Richard Hammond and James May...

5) Odyssey, Season 1 - BBC Two - Sunday, June 28 at 9.15pm

Not the usual type of acquisition for the BBC we have to say. Odyssey is a conspiracy theory show centering on terrorism and the American government. It is of course fictional and focuses in its main storyline on the idea of a big American corporation funneling money to terror groups - will the truth out, and can a show like this truly be successful without being packed full of propaganda? We'll have to tune in to find out!
