This January, Celebrity Big Brother will be making its way back to Channel 5, for a series subtitled The Year of the Woman. Celebrating 100 years since women gained the right to vote, the show will for the first time in its celebrity edition’s history welcome only female housemates into the Big Brother house on launch night, with the audience also only being made up of women. Emma Willis will return to host, but we’ve now got to thinking, which amazing celebrity females would we like to see join the show? Here’s our pick for this January…

5) Elizabeth McKenna

As one of the most controversial contestants on this year’s edition of The Apprentice, Elizabeth went extremely far in the process, coming fourth overall but failing to get Lord Alan Sugar to invest in her florist business. Though she didn’t win, she was praised for her passion and determination in making a success of herself, and Lord Sugar even said that it was people like her that make up the backbone of the economy in this country. What better female could Big Brother hope for, in a series that’s all about celebrating the successes of women?

4) Holly Hagan

If you’re looking for somebody the polar opposite of Elizabeth, you’ll find them in Holly Hagan! A member of Geordie Shore since the very start, she didn’t get off on the best foot with fans, but soon became a firm favourite thanks to her on-off relationships with her co-stars and complicated emotions. Unafraid to show the real her on the small screen, she’s the perfect fit for a reality TV setting like Celebrity Big Brother, and somebody we think would actually turn out to be a real girl’s girl.

3) Charley Webb

Sister to Jamie Lomas, who came second in this year’s edition of Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, Charley isn’t someone known to hold her tongue, and even confronted fans of Im A Celeb during her brother’s time on the show when they accused him of bullying, and targeted her family in retaliation. If she goes into the house, we imagine she’ll be hoping to go one better than Jamie and take home the crown! We’ll see if the public warm up to her if and when she goes into the house on January 2!

2) Sandra Martin

Shooting to fame thanks to her role in Channel 4’s Gogglebox, Sandra is said to have signed up for Celebrity Big Brother this January following the success of her co-star Sabdi Bogle back in the summer of this year. We think she’d be a major hit with the viewers and would provide some much-needed comic relief when things get heated inside the infamous Big Brother compound.

1) Amanda Barrie

After entertaining the nation for years in Coronation Street, rumour has it that Amanda Barrie will be coming out of retirement for a couple of weeks to take part in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother. Older women never get their dues when they take part in this show, but always seem to entertain, and we imagine inclusion in the show from Amanda would result in some of the most golden and classic moments in Celebrity Big Brother history. If Amanda’s truly signed up for the show, you can be sure we’ll be tuning in each and every night to see how it all goes down! A true legend of British TV.

Celebrity Big Brother: The Year of the Woman launches on January 2 at 9pm on Channel 5.
