It's day four in our week of Game of Thrones theories, and today we're going back to Bran Stark and pondering over whether he could also be the Night's King, 'evil' leader of the White Walkers...

Why do we think this could be a possibility?

So, is the Night's King an evil version of Bran Stark which Brandon the Builder was trying to protect against (also possibly Bran Stark) when building The Wall to keep the Others from invading? This would explain a lot when it comes to the Night's King looking to kill all versions of Bran Stark - including the Three Eyed Raven if that also turns out to be true - and could explain why he's now after the present-day Bran Stark that we all know the most about. Hypothetically, the Night's King here is the evil Bran Stark that wants to eliminate all other forms of himself, so that he can go on to dominate the Seven Kingdoms without interruption.

If the Night's King is indeed Bran Stark it's also plausible that he would have the same powers as Bran, warging and looking into visions of the past. What if the Night's King provided the whispers that the Mad King heard telling him to 'burn them all' and leading to his demise? It took care of Brandon Stark - son of Winterfell's Old Nan - and as we mentioned in yesterday's theory, she may have believed that all of the Brandon Starks throughout history were one person.

One of the stories Old Nan had told Bran was about the Night's King, whom she identified as a Stark and hinted that he was also called Brandon - brother to the King of the North.

This would also make sense with some of the scenes we saw in the fifth episode of the sixth season, where Bran went into a warging vision and the Night's King was able to not only see him, but grab him, imprint on him and discover where his real-life modern-day location was. If the Night's King is a version of Bran Stark who can warg, it makes sense that the Night's King can see Bran during the warging vision, as Bran could see fellow 'warger', the Three Eyed Raven and vice versa.

How plausible is this theory?

When we first started writing this, we thought this was one of the less convincing theories. However with all of the evidence that seems to suggest the Night's King has the same or similar powers to Bran Stark, it all becomes a little more likely. How wonderful a moment would it be when Bran found out he was responsible for the rise of the White Walker army?

Game of Thrones continues Sundays in the US and Mondays in the UK on HBO and Sky Atlantic respectively.

Theory #1 - 'R+L=J'

Theory #2 - Tyrion Targaryen
