No County For Old Men

No County For Old Men

In No County For Old Men this brand new eight-part travelogue series for HISTORY, well loved comedians John Thomson and Simon Day travel the counties of Great Britain in a witty and entertaining voyage of discovery.

With each episode focusing on a different county, John and Simon immerse themselves in a variety of events and traditions, discovering why a region’s heritage remains an ever changing but defining part of British culture.

The holiday hotspot of Cornwall is first on the hit list but it’s no holiday for John and Simon. Singing, sandcastles and sunshine are on the cards as the boys kick off their antics with a seafaring thrill on the waves.

Joining a training mission at Fowey lifeboat station the tang of sea spray is in the air as the duo are enlisted to help save lives with the RNLI.

The road trip then leads the lads on a journey to a Cornish language school, where they attempt to gain a free prize pasty by mastering the local dialect.

Later in the show and with song sheets in hand, the pair get a warm welcome from the singing troop Oggy Men, to teach them the joys of Cornish folk song, which culminates in a hearty performance in front of an army of locals.

Not a problem for two seasoned performers you might think, but the pressure is on and there’s Cornish pride at stake.

John and Simon also get hot and sweaty as they experience firsthand, Cornish wrestling, when they take each other on in a David and Goliath style match. And the winner is? Now that would be telling... Come merry traveller, and join Simon and John on their merry japes!

The brand new series of No County For Old Men starts on Tuesday 17 April at 10pm on HISTORY.
