Two contestants were fired in a shock double sacking on 'The Apprentice' last night (07.05.08).

Jenny Celerier and Jennifer Maguire were fired following a disastrous performance during a two-day task in Marrakech.

The ten remaining contestants were given a shopping list of ten items and were required to put their haggling skills to the test.

However, Jenny and Jennifer's Alpha team - of which Jennifer was the project manager - failed to come up with the correct items, incurring penalties, and spent more money than their rivals.

Jenny and Michael Sophocles came under fire in the boardroom after it was revealed they tried to sabotage the Renaissance team's efforts by asking a vendor not to give them the tennis rackets on their lists.

Branding Jenny a "snake", Sir Alan Sugar accused her of lying and double-crossing her team mates.

Jenny agreed that some of her behaviour toward the other contestants was harsh, saying: "I'll admit I went a bit over the top when I shouted at Lucinda and made her cry."

After being fired, Jenny insisted mistakes made on the task - including the debate over what Kosher meant when they were trying to find a Kosher chicken - were not her fault.

Despite thinking they were safe after Jenny's firing, Sir Alan then turned on the remaining Alpha team contestants - Jennifer, Michael, Alex Wotherspoon and Claire Young.

The Amstrad boss decided to fire Jennifer after telling her she had been "out of control" on the task.

Speaking afterwards, Jennifer said: "You're with people who come across friendly but they're just looking for your bad points so they can screw you over in the boardroom."

Eight contestants now remain on the BBC show.
