Geordie Shore

Geordie Shore

Geordie Shore is back, as MTV’s ratings monster roars back onto Tuesdays tonight, this time seeing the crew jet off once again from their native Newcastle to cause all sorts of trouble.

We spoke to Holly, James, Sophie and Dan before series five kicks off on MTV tonight about what we can expect from their latest escapades, the risks of 'the slutdrop' and their opinions on The Valleys.

So, what can we expect from this series of Geordie Shore?

Holly: It’s kind of the same as what you got in the last series but this time we’re in four different countries. On a regular basis, I certainly wouldn’t have chosen to go skiing but when I was there I was on the Alps, I’m pretty hung over, there’s the altitude and I felt like I was going to die. I didn’t really like that part!

Dan:  We’re going to be visiting four different places, Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona and the French Alps. Every city has totally different things to offer, so there’s something crazy happening in each country.

What were you highlights then?

James: Definitively the skiing!

Holly: The thing with skiing is that you have après-ski, so basically everyone goes for a drink after skiing. Which is great as you can drink through the day. Then you go to Prague and it’s a great night time city, there are so many places to go out. All these are party cities, which is great for us!

So you’ve been all over Europe, anywhere else you want to go?

James:  America for sure.

Dan: Australia, although I’m off to there next week.

You’ve been thrown into fame, how’s that been?

James: It’s weird and hard to get used to. It’s just getting bigger and bigger though.

Holly: When you’re walking down the street and people scream your name or you get tweets from the other side of the world it’s a bit surreal.

We often see the worst of you on the show, do you ever worry about what people might think?

Sophie: Not now, we’re on to series five now.

James: Everyone’s already seen the worst of us.

Sophie: Everyone loves it though, the worse you look the funnier it is.

Dan: I think if we were worried about that, we’ve signed up to the wrong show.

Sophie: No one’s ever funny when they’re looking pretty or got all your make up on.

James: We’d be on TOWIE if we wanted to be dressed up all the time.

The show’s become a massive success for MTV, why do you think that is?

Holly: I think people really like that it is real, it’s actually a reality show.

James: Everyone loves a Geordie too, if they’d have tried it in any other city it probably would have worked *cough* The Valleys *cough*.

This is your second year Dan, how are you fitting in?

Dan: I’ve definitely found me feet in this series and I’ve definitely become my own person.

James: You see him meet the love of his life too.

Dan: Yep, and James get married and have a kid.

You’ve got your own fitness range James, how did that come about?

James: Well, just me and one of me mates were at the gym and a big company approached us to just be the face of it. I’ve put in ideas though and linked up with them much more and it’s doing really well. I’ve also got something coming out soon that’s going to be massive, but I can’t really say much about it yet.

Why does everyone love a Geordie then?

Holly: We’re down to Earth, honest and got big hearts.

So, who really invented the ‘slut drop’ then?

Sophie: This is going way back to series one, and we always used to just muck around and dance with the producers and that. This girl that we were close to and she used to do the ‘slut drop’ and I instantly loved it. She said I could use it and since series one I have been doing it with the rest of the girls and now you can just imagine how angry she is when you see stuff like #slutdrop. She was the inventor and I’ve just stolen it from her!

Does it really work every time?

Holly: Not every time, when we were skiing I did it and split me skirt up the back! I had to turn it around and claim it was a side split so I didn’t have to go home.

Finishing up, what did you guys think of The Valleys

James: Was that a TV show?

Dan: Yeah, I think it was a nature documentary, looking at the Welsh wildlife.

Sophie: It was like they watched what we did and just tried to go one better. If they had tried to be themselves, then it might have worked out. But it’s when they’re saying ‘I’m the new Charlotte’ or ‘I’m the new Vicky’, I wasn’t a fan of that.

James: They were also saying things like ‘Watch out Geordie Shore’, like they were challenging us which is very silly.

Holly: They just had a very different concept to the show if I’m honest. We are known for the characters and the stories in the house. Their stories might come out but for now, but right now I didn’t really find it entertaining. I’ve watched porn before, it was just the same thing, a couple of girls getting their t**s out and rubbing them together.

Dan: They’d just stuff like that every episode and it would get really boring. We’ve got actual storylines that people can follow

Geordie Shore returns to MTV tonight at 10pm.
