Kyle Richards is one of two original Housewives left standing on the main cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, with the Bravo reality show now in its seventh season. Having gone through numerous cast changes and evolutions, Richards is one of the staples that has remained constant with the show, and seeing her on screen in any of the given episodes quickly proves just why that is.

We got the chance to put some questions to Kyle all about the current explosive season of Beverly Hills, finding out what she thinks of all the drama surrounding her sister Kim, her fellow cast members and more...

This season more than most before has had a lot of fun alongside the drama – what have been some of your favourite memories to look back on?

People always ask me how I can look forward to going on the trips with the girls, but I have to say they are some of the memories I love the most. I got married and had children so young, so it’s nice to be able to do things like that now. We always have fun on the trips away, regardless of if we have some sort of drama and clash.

The trip to Hong Kong (coming up this season) was amazing; on the flight out everyone was laughing and having fun. It was such a different place and the culture was amazing. Seeing the Buddha and having to go on the Gondola was amazing, even though it was terrifying.

We’ve had seven years of going to interesting places and it’s really fun to share it with the other women. It’s kind of like watching your own home videos.

It also seems that this season, fans are really behind you and enjoying you on the show. What’s the response been like from your fans?

The response has been amazing for a season that’s been really difficult. It’s been a funny season for the fans as they’ve been torn between the fighting with my sister and the clashing with Brandi (Glanville, former cast member) but on my side, there hasn’t been that much drama. Although I was getting in the middle between my sister and Lisa (Rinna), I wasn’t really carrying all that anxiety this time.

What do you think of Dorit Kelmsley’s addition to the cast? How do you think she’s done?

I think she’s a great addition. I think a lot of people judge her for having a nanny, but she’s completely honest about who she is. There are a lot of people who have nannies but keep it a secret, so I respect someone who is honest. She is who she is and is such great fun. She has great style and her family are a great addition to the show. I think the audience will grow to love her a lot more as the show goes on.

Despite your sister Kim (Richards) not being a full-time ‘Housewife’ this season, she still seems to be central to many of the show’s storylines – why do you think that is?

With Kim, she’s someone who comes on the show and always says something funny. My kids even say she’s their favourite. However, she’s an easy target and therefore I think that’s why a lot of drama circles her, but she’s not someone to take it lying down which makes things a bit more interesting!

There’s been a lot of conflict with Lisa (Rinna) and Kim, can you tell us a bit about this and how it changed the atmosphere on the show?

Personally, I think all that drama really changed everything for me and put me in an awful position. Kim is my sister, but Lisa Rinna is also supposed to be my friend. I mean how many times can she say she’s ‘sorry’ before it doesn’t mean anything? Lisa Vanderpump says to me, ‘How can you be so forgiving?’, and I’m like, ‘That’s easy for you to say because you don’t like each other!’ I know she’s a good person but it really changed a lot for me.

Is there anything specific you’d like to bring up at the reunion this season?

I guess for me it would have to be the argument with Lisa Rinna and my sister. I feel really anxious about the reunion coming up because I don’t really want to bring it up, but she has been so relentless attacking my sister, even on Twitter, so I think I have to bring it up.

Which of the past Beverly Hills housewives would you love to see come back for a future season (not including Kim!) and why?

I love Adrienne (Maloof) and Taylor (Armstrong). I have a special place in my heart with all the original cast members. I think it would be great to have them all back because that’s who we started the original show with.

We’ve seen you behind-the-scenes on American Woman while on RHOBH – congratulations on the series being picked up! What should we expect from this?

Thank you! It’s crazy. We’re going to start shooting very soon as we’re in pre-production. There will be 12 episodes and I think it will be ready for early 2018. It’s so different to Real Housewives; it’s day and night, so very different. To be in front of the camera is very different than being part of the creative of a scripted show. It’s really interesting but I love being creative and having the ability to write. Plus, I don’t have to constantly wear high heels like I do on Real Housewives!

Finally, what’s next for you in the coming months?

Well, it’s going to be quite busy as I’ve just opened my sixth store in New York in the Upper East Side, and with producing the scripted show, four kids, five dogs and a husband, there’s a lot happening! Oh, I didn’t mean to put my husband last!

We’ve also found out that my puppy who we rescued is now going to be 175 pounds, so that’s definitely going to take up a lot of our time!
