Tomorrow night (January 22, 2019), the National Television Awards returns to The O2 in London and broadcasts live to the nation, as host Dermot O'Leary heads one of the most celebratory events of the year.

As the only TV awards ceremony where the winners are chosen entirely by the British public, it's harder than ever to make predictions about who will be successful in each category, but we've decided to give it a go in any case.

Here are who and what we think will be walking away with the gongs this time round...

Quiz Show: The Chase

Would you believe us if we told you that The Chase had been on air for almost a decade? This year, the show turns 10 when June comes around, and we think the occasion would be best marked with a win in this hotly-contested category!

Catchphrase may prove to be the hardest to beat here, but we think Bradley Walsh's hilarious moments of trying to hold in laughter when reading out naughty questions could see the show romp to victory.

New Drama: Killing Eve

This was a tough one to pick, but we reckon Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh's amazing performances in Killing Eve will see the show just about beat Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes's incredible acting in Bodyguard.

Both shows had riveting narratives that had millions on the edge of their seats, but Phoebe Waller-Bridge's TV adaptation of Luke Jenning's novella series is the series that will stick with us for the longest time. With a second season just a few months away, this could be a show that continues to pick up awards for years to come.

Talent Show: Strictly Come Dancing

We'd say that the majority of reality fans are pretty fed up of singing competitions, which would cut both The X Factor and The Voice UK out of proceedings here. Britain's Got Talent has a good shot, and then there's the return of Dancing on Ice to the category after its successful return to ITV last year.

The one show that has showed no signs of slowing down year after year however, is the BBC's brilliant Strictly Come Dancing. It's the only show representing a network other than ITV in the mix, and we think that will help it take the crown.

Drama: Peaky Blinders

Jodie Whittaker's debut season of Doctor Who could be a strong contender here, but the backlash to the storylines from Chris Chibnall (and the small minority of people who said they would refuse to watch the show simply because of the female-bodied Doctor) could see it fall at the final hurdle.

Peaky Blinders however has continuously impressed from year to year, with Cillian Murphy's mesmerising performance as Thomas Shelby a consistent talking point. We'll be shocked if it doesn't grab the gong here!

TV Presenter: Ant and Dec

There's been some controversy surrounding this category, mostly due to the fact that Ant and Dec are once again nominated as a duo, despite Ant taking the majority of 2018 to work on his personal struggles and mental health. Personally, that anger is unwarranted and misplaced.

Ant was a part of the first Britain's Got Talent shows of 2018 before taking his break, and Dec has done more than enough to earn his slot within the nominees. Fans of the pair will no doubt ensure their record-breaking streak of wins continues here.

Factual Entertainment: Paul O'Grady: For The Love Of Dogs

Whilst The Great British Bake Off is beloved by millions, the 2018 version didn't seem to light a fire in the bellies of those watching quite as well as the seasons of years gone by. That's why this year, we think Paul O'Grady and his furry friends will have warmed the hearts of everybody watching enough to encourage them to get online and vote for the show!

Drama Performance: Jodie Comer as Villanelle in Killing Eve

At the end of 2018, we named Jodie Comer as our Television Actress of the Year in our first ever Female First Awards. After seeing the response from passionate fans online, we think they'll have come together to ensure Comer is given exactly what she deserves at this year's NTAs.

Comer has been unfairly snubbed from a series of different awards shows, even failing to reach the shortlist stages, and so we have to celebrate her here, or we risk her missing out on awards season entirely!

The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award: I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

It's hard to remember a year of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! that was as friendly and entertaining as the one we enjoyed in November. Eventually crowning Harry Redknapp as the King of the Jungle, with Inbetweeners star Emily Atack as a very worthy runner up, it had us all smiling from start to finish. This would be the perfect ending to a brilliant season and the best ensemble cast of celebs the show's ever seen.

Serial Drama: Emmerdale

Whether your favourite Emmerdale moments of 2018 included Kim Tate's shocking return to Home Farm, Lachlan's reign of terror against his family and the Dingles, or the moving and incredibly emotional storylines that both Charity and Chas Dingle were involved in, the soap has undoubtedly been the best of the past 12 months.

The effort put in by writers alongside a talented cast and crew deserves recognition in this category, and we just hope viewers agree and have made the effort to get online and vote!

In 2018, Emmerdale fans discovered that Charity Dingle had a secret son following a sexual assault when she was a minor. Special episodes filled in the gaps of Charity's past, with Emma Atkins giving one of the best soap performances not just of the past 12 months, but of all time.

Comedy: Benidorm

Fans of Benidorm will likely want to show ITV just how wrong they were to let Derren Litten's comedy go last year, and so will vote in their droves to ensure it takes yet another award home in the NTAs ceremony.

Whilst it could have been the series's last chance to pick up an NTA however, the show has been picked up by Netflix who have commissioned new episodes and made all past seasons available on their platform.

Newcomer: Aedan Duckworth as Oliver Morgan in Hollyoaks

A difficult choice here, but writers decided to give Aedan Duckworth a hugely challenging storyline as soon as he signed up to the show. Playing Oliver Morgan, audiences would see history almost repeat itself as the youngster was groomed and sexually assaulted by his football coach.

Those who have been watching Hollyoaks for some time will remember how Gary Lucy's character Luke Morgan - Oliver's father - was sexually assaulted on the soap a decade ago by a group of men. Fortunately this time round, justice was served swiftly and Oliver's abuser was put behind bars.

Daytime: This Morning

Whether you're watching Phil and Holly, or Ruth and Eamonn, This Morning is without a doubt one of the most entertaining shows on British television. Who can help but laugh when Phil and Holly get a case of the giggles, or Ruth and Eamonn enjoy a playful marital spat?

We'd be an advocate for Good Morning Britain if ITV didn't insist on keeping the hateful Piers Morgan on their payroll, as Susanna Reid does a brilliant job.

TV Judge: Robert Rinder in Judge Rinder

This is the first time ever an actual judge has been nominated in this category, and we think that alone should be reason enough for Robert Rinder to take home his first award from the category. David Walliams will prove to be tough competition following his hilarity on the Britain's Got Talent panel, but we think audiences are ready for a new face to claim this prize.
