Announced in late 2020 to much excitement and anticipation, Star will become the sixth brand to launch as part of streaming service Disney+, joining Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic and of course, Disney itself.
Now, Disney+ have revealed some of the first titles that will launch as part of the brand next month, including two Star originals as well as much-loved films and television shows that will become available on the platform.
Big Little Lies' storyteller David E. Kelley brings this intense thriller to life, which follows private detectives Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe) as they join forces with the latter's estranged wife and ex-cop, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick).
On the search for two sisters kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote Montana highway, they discover that the case they're delving into may be much bigger than they first imagined, racing against the clock to save the women before it's too late.
Set in the same world as the beloved 2018 film Love, Simon comes new series Love, Victor.
A new student at Creekwood High, Victor is on his own journey of self-discovery, not only facing challenges at school but also at home, as well as all of the regular stuff that comes with adjusting to a new city.
Struggling with his sexual orientation, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate this strange new world. We’re expecting plenty of heartwarming scenes from this one!
Along with these two originals, beloved film series and TV shows of the past will be making an appearance. These include 24 led by Kiefer Sutherland, Lost which became a huge phenomenon during its original broadcast, the dramatic and chaotic lives of the Desperate Housewives, and the brilliant groundbreaking comedy How I Met Your Mother.
Wentworth Miller leads Prison Break which will also be available, alongside the iconic Atlanta which stars Donald Glover, and Black-ish with Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross and Laurence Fishburne.
The Die Hard movie franchise rounds out everything currently being advertised for the Star brand, but we’re sure Disney+ have got more aces up their sleeves to reveal in the coming months!
For now however, this is more than enough to whet our appetites. Bring on February!
