Netflix are bringing a brand new original series to viewers later this month with 13 Reasons Why, a story about a young girl named Hannah Baker who committed suicide in high school. Leaving tapes behind for the people that had something to do with her death, this looks to be a gripping and compelling story that allows an insight into those who deal with mental illness and the allure that committing suicide may have for them.

Now a brand new featurette has been released by Netflix, allowing the cast of the series to speak out about the tough subject matter and how important it is to ensure it remains at the forefront of people’s minds. You can watch the video below:

Based on the best-selling book series by Jay Asher, viewers will be introduced to Clay Jensen, who returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it on his porch, containing all of the tapes that Hannah left behind. On the tapes, Hannah talks about the 13 reasons why she felt she had to kill herself, and if Clay is brave enough to listen to them all, he’ll find out how he made the list.

Through a dual-narrative of Clay and Hannah, the story weaves a heart-wrenching story with intricately detailed plot lines in a piece that’s sure to deeply affect those watching.

Dylan Minnette stars as Clay Jensen and Katherine Langford plays Hannah Baker, alongside Kate Walsh as Mrs Baker, Brian D’Arcy James as Mr Baker, Derek Luke as Mr Porter, Brandon Flynn as Justin Foley, Justin Prentice as Bryce Walker, Alisha Boe as Jessica Davis, Christian Navarro as Tony Padilla, Miles Heizer as Alex Standall and Tommy Dorfman as Ryan Shaver.
