The former 'Coronation Street' star will make his first appearance as Kyle, the ex-boyfriend of Nancy Osbourne (Jessica Fox), in April and is "really happy" with his new role.

Kyle will bump into his old flame at a support meeting for people who have multiple sclerosis (MS) and soap bosses have suggested he'll also have connections to other people in the village.

He said: "I am really happy to be joining Hollyoaks. I've had a lot of friends work on the show throughout the years and they've all told me what an amazing place it is to work so it's really good to be a part of such a welcoming crowd.

"They key interest for me was in the storylines lined up for Kyle. I think they are amazing, taking the character on a real journey and something I am really enjoying playing a part in. Fingers crossed the audience like the surprises as they keep coming."

While the news of Adam's casting has only just broken, he has been filming the soap for some time.

He tweeted: "Morning!! Been filming for 2 months and loving every second...you wouldn't believe the storylines that are coming! (sic)"

Adam recently spoke about his old role as Nick Tilsley on 'Corrie', admitting he gets jealous whenever he sees Ben Price, who currently plays the character, on screen with Jane Danson as Leanne Battersby.

He said: "The Platts are the stalwarts of the show. I will say that I get a bit jealous when I see Nick with Leanne. I'm like, 'That's my wife! I married her!'"
