The 44-year-old comedian is considering taking a so-called wonder drug for tackling obesity, known as Semaglutide, to help him shift the extra pounds by suppressing his appetite.

Speaking on the 'Life's A Beach' podcast, he said: "I've been on so many diets ... I can't wait for that pill."

The comedy star has made a pact with Judge Robert Rinder to lose weight together after Alan he struggled to put on a pair of jeans because he'd over-indulged during the lockdowns in 2020.

He said: “I did put on a lot of lockdown weight. You are going to see there is a gap where people will think, ‘What the hell has he eaten because he has ballooned?’ I have been eating any old s***.

"I think I have put on about three stone. You see skinny people on Instagram and they only have a slice of banana bread but I was eating the whole lot.

"For my birthday, I went to put on my jeans and I said to my husband, ‘Paul, you have put your jeans on my shelf.’ But he hadn’t. I looked at them and realised they were a 36-inch waist. I couldn’t get them around my stomach."

Now, Alan is determined to shed the extra weight by the end of the year and will reward himself with a nice meal once he reaches his goal.

He explained: "I rang Rob up last year and said, ‘I am fat.’ He said, ‘I am fat’. So we sent each other pictures and both agreed we were fat.

"We decided whoever had lost the least amount of weight by November 2nd would pay for dinner. I saw a picture of him and he is back to being skinny and so if there was anything good to come out of the lockdown, it was I couldn’t see him."
