Despite the fear, the 'One Show' presenter - who reached the competition’s semi-finals with pro partner James Jordan - enjoyed the experience she had on the BBC One Latin and ballroom show.

The 44-year-old broadcaster told BBC Radio Wales: "It’s so terrifying. For me it stopped me dancing for ever more.

"But I did love the experience."

Judge Rinder - who joined Alex for the on-air chat - agreed about experiencing some 'Strictly' fear, but found his stint on the show to be just the beginning of his dancing life, as he joined a dance group in the aftermath.

The 43-year-old star - who competed for the glitterball in 2016 - said: "It’s about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on."

But Rinder - who finished fifth after being partnered with professional Oksana Platero - admitted he was "terrified".

He added: “I was terrified. I really do love it... what Strictly did do was connect me with the joy."

Alex felt that a dance class would be preferable to the very public Saturday night primetime slot of ‘Strictly’.

She said: "Dance fitness sounds brilliant because everybody would be of a level."

After the conclusion of the latest series - which was won by EastEnders’ star Rose Ayling-Ellis - the festive special aired on Christmas Day (25.12.21) and was won by pop singer Anne-Marie, 30.

Alongside her pro partner Graziano Di Prima, the 'Birthday' hitmaker beat off competition from the likes of Moira Stewart, Mel Giedroyc, Fred Sirieix, Jay Blades and Adrian Chiles to triumph in the festive edition of the the show.
