Anjelica Huston

Anjelica Huston

Anjelica Huston has her eyes on a role in 'Downton Abbey'.

The Oscar-winning actress is such a huge fan of the British period drama that she has admitted she'd love to star in the show.

She told The Times newspaper: "I know some people have a problem with it, but I really like 'Downton Abbey'. I like the manners, and behaviour ... and to me that's a very satisfying show. I get very involved and it takes me somewhere else. I get emotional. I love costume dramas! I'm very, sort of, traditional when it comes to that. I love that stuff.

"I'd be slathering to work on 'Downton'. I love it. Or maybe not slathering, but yes ... I'd like to work on 'Downton'. It's great."

The 62-year-old actress would be in good company on the show with fellow American actors, including Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine and Paul Giamatti.

Other stars who have lobbied for roles in Julian Fellowes' hit show - which is now in its fourth series - include Richard E. Grant, Peter Andre and Martin Clunes.
