Ant and Dec have been left out of this year's 'Britain's Got Talent' launch advert.

The popular presenting duo have hosted the show since it first aired in 2007, but they have been omitted from a new ad for the show, which has been released just days after Ant was charged with drink driving.

However, the pair are expected to feature prominently in the new series as auditions were recorded early in 2017, and despite Ant recently being charged following a car crash on the streets of London, an insider has insisted the duo were never set to appear in the advert.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "This promo was filmed in February, they weren't supposed to be in it. They don't always feature in them every year."

The ad has a strong royal theme, with show judges Simon Cowell assuming the role of King Arthur, Amanda Holden playing Elizabeth I, David Walliams starring as George III and Alesha Dixon portraying Queen Victoria.

'Britain's Got Talent' is due to return to TV screens in April, with Dec reportedly poised to host the live stages on his own.

Although Ant's incident led to the cancellation of one episode of 'Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway', Dec is set to host the last two shows of the current series, on March 31 and April 7, on his own.

In a statement posted on Ant and Dec's Twitter account last week, Dec announced: "Whilst I never thought I'd be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we've decided that the remaining two shows of this series of 'Saturday Night Takeaway' will go ahead.

"We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that. Everyone at ITV and the 'Takeaway' team feels we owe it to the audience to complete the series. Dec x. (sic)"

Ant is set to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on April 4.
