Dax Bailey didn't believe the 55-year-old comedian would get far in the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, as he lacks spatial awareness around the home.

Speaking to The Sunday Times newspaper, he said: "I don’t want to sound like I wasn’t optimistic but I really didn’t think he would do this well."

Bill has even surprised himself as well as a number of fans with his prowess on the dancefloor, as he was dubbed the underdog of the series having impressed the judges with his dance moves.

However, Dax was shocked to see his dad being able to land a whole routine, as he usually shows off his dad dancing despite being "spatially unaware".

Describing his father’s moves before the show, Dax added: “It was the epitome of dad dancing: the wiggle, arm movements, legs going side to side. At home, he is pretty spatially unaware. Every morning he stubs his toe on the same corner without fail. We have pretty thin doorways; he is always smashing his elbows. My mum is always having a go at him for smashing glasses."

It comes after Bill's routine to The Sugarhill Gang's 'Rapper's Delight' went viral and receive a special message from the hip hop trio.

He said: "I have had many supportive and complimentary messages since, not least a tweet from The Wurzels, who declared that 'the West Country wizard nailed it'.

"High praise indeed, and perhaps this accolade could not have been bettered.

"That was until today, when all three members of the actual Sugarhill Gang sent me a personal video message of congratulations, and thanks for using their song.

"I am still a little dazed by it all to be honest, but in a good way. I've even become a Gif."
