The 'Great British Bake Off' winner - who already has a pug called Dennis - rescued a sweet Pomeranian called Sybil, who is blind in one eye and walks on three legs, with her boyfriend Liam Macaulay from Many Tears Animal Rescue in Wales.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the Animal Hero Awards in London on Thursday (07.09.17), she said: "We've got Sybil and then we've got Dennis. Dennis is the one that's cropped up in the book a few times and Sybil we got from a rescue centre back in April from a place called Many Tears. She was from a puppy farm, she's blind in one eye and she walks on three legs. When she runs across the park she uses all four legs and I'm like: 'Hang on, I've been carrying you for an hour!' "

Aside from caring for her pet pooches, the 32-year-old star has been working hard to create a bespoke afternoon tea for London's Dalloway Terrace and dropped her debut cook book 'Comfort: Delicious Bakes and Family Treats' back in July.

She explained: "I have a hardworking nature, I work hard - I always have done. I want to be working and when I'm not and I do have a few days off I start getting itchy feet."

And, although she's enjoying working on new things at the moment, Candice hasn't ruled out a return to teaching in the future if her on-screen career starts to dry up.

She said: "Sometimes I do miss teaching, but the school was incredible and I'm so lucky to have the opportunities I have.

"At the moment I'm doing this and I'm loving it but I'll always have my teaching degree so if you get bored of me, I have something to go back to."
