Carol Vorderman is still planning to do her round-the-world solo flight - but in "two or three years."

The former 'Countdown' host postponed her globe-trotting trip after her mother Jean, 88, was diagnosed with an incurable cancer earlier this year but, following the death of her beloved mum last month, she feels it's best she pours her attention into her family for the foreseeable future.

Speaking to the Evening Times newspaper, she said: "I'm just starting to re-engage. I'm taking things gently, looking after the kids and my family. That's really the focus at the moment. The flight could take place in two or three years. I'll probably start (flying) again in July."

However, although she's not flying at the moment, the 56-year-old presenter has a new hobby as she has been cycling around Bristol while she spends time with her friends and family.

She explained: "I cycle around Bristol all the time. I'm cycling five or six days a week. So basically I live in my leggings and trainers... We have a lot of hills in Bristol. I haven't managed to do them all yet but, little victories every day."

Carol announced she was going to jet around the world in her twin-engine propeller plane named Mildred after she obtained her pilot's licence in 2014.

It's believed the blonde beauty's journey through Europe, Asia, Russia, across the Pacific Ocean, the US and back to the UK will be captured on camera and turned into a show called 'Carol's Incredible Solo Flight Around The World'.
