The former 'Coronation Street' star revealed Beverley Callard - who played his character Jim McDonald's wife Liz on the soap - has asked him to be his contact when she enters Gwrych Castle in Wales for the ITV reality show.

Appearing on 'This Morning' via video link on Friday (13.11.20), he said: "She asked me when we had a chat, I don't know if you're meant to know all this carry on.

"She said, 'Can you be my go-to famous friend whenever I'm in the brown stuff,' or whatever.

"I said, of course, but I don't know how that will manifest itself, we shall see, I don't know how it works.

"I'm certainly not going to sit up all night waiting for her to call me."

Meanwhile, 'EastEnders' legend Shane Richie's son Shane Nolan also appeared on the show, and admitted he hadn't been approached for the apparent new feature.

He told hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: "I didn't get that gig but I'm intrigued, I would've thought it'll be his wife, my step-mum Christie."

He weighed in on his famous dad's chances on the show, and insisted he'll struggle with anything food based.

The younger Shane teased: "He'll definitely, 100% be sick if he does the eating trial.

"And let me tell you, I will be voting for that!"

The soap star's son also played down the idea of changing his name back to Shane Richie Jr. in honour of his dad's 'I'm A Celebrity' stint, instead joking he'd be taken on Sir Mo Farah's moniker if he wins.
