The 'Emmerdale' star - who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap - has been left "annoyed" by some of the counterfeit accounts made by people who she says have been messaging fans claiming to be the 30-year-old actress.

She wrote on Twitter: "This is the link for my new Instagram. Annoying fakes on there having conversations with people as me. Weird! So opened my own (sic)"

But Charley isn't the only 'Emmerdale' star who has been on the received end of imitation Insta accounts.

Her on-screen half-brother James Moore - who recently joined the soap as Ryan Stocks - also opened an Instagram account after he was targeted by fakers.

In response to Charley, he tweeted: "Same thing happened to me! Who has that much time on their hands (sic)"

Last week, James wrote on Twitter: "If you wanna see more of what I actually get up to in my spare time I'm gonna try and update my instagram story a lot more regularly so please follow me on there @jamesmooreactor for funny insta stories - hopefully - and posts...normally about what vinyl records I'm buying (sic)"

Charley's announcement was greeted with delight by many 'Emmerdale' fans, and her former co-star Sheree Murphy.

She tweeted: "At last!!! (sic)"

Charley is yet to post a picture on Instagram at the time of writing but has amassed nearly 7,000 followers, but is following Sheree and her former 'Emmerdale' co-star Sammy Winward, who played Katie Sugden in the show.

She has used the Instagram Stories function though, admitting she had to cancel all of her appointments today (14.08.18) because her and co-star Matthew Wolfenden's (David Metcalfe) two-year-old son Bowie didn't get to sleep until 2am due to jet lag.
