The 'Ground Force' expert, who hasn't been seen on-screen since the popular construction programme came to an end 11 years ago, is set to bounce back into the spotlight as she gets her hands dirty in a bid to transform people's back gardens into beautiful masterpieces.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Charlie is without doubt one of the biggest names in the gardening world and was part of an era when garden landscaping became unmissable TV. She is a green-fingered legend and everyone is very excited to have her back on telly.

"Her water features were particularly popular with viewers and became a recurring theme on 'Ground Force'. The show was more popular than anyone could have imagined.

"Charlie may have disappeared off telly for a while but she hasn't gone to seed yet. She was one of 'Ground Force's biggest attractions and the BBC hope she will get Britain interested in gardening again.

"They have incredibly high hopes and think the new show will really propel Charlie into the big time."

The curly-haired beauty, 49, will be joined by Chelsea Flower Show stars the Rich brothers, Harry and David, as they attempt to spruce up back gardens on a strict budget.

Meanwhile, other details surrounding the BBC show have been kept tightly under wraps, including the title, but a release date will be announced in due course.
