The 'Springwatch' presenter will be joined by Megan McCubbin for the BBC series, which will see the pair travelling around Britain in an electric campervan.

Speaking about the premise of the programme, the 60-year-old star told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “It is Megs and I in an electric camper van driving around the UK, looking for wildlife, having a bit of chit chat, visiting a castle or two.

"It’s sort of a fly-on-the-wall of what we get up to when not doing TV.

“We are talking about all the issues in our lives.

"It’s a bit of banter and arguing.”

With celebrity road trips proving popular with TV bosses lately, Chris was keen to point out how his and Megan’s six-part show will differ from the likes of ITV’s ‘Craig and Bruno's Great British Road Trips’, which sees 'Strictly Come Dancing' judges Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli taking on six of the best drives in the UK.

He said: “We’re a bit more environmentally friendly than Craig and Bruno.

“We have our electric camper van and there will be less about ballroom dancing in ours.

“They will be prancing and we will be picking up droppings and skulls.

“It will be very different anyway, but let’s see how it goes.”

It comes after animal lover Chris recently said he wants his ashes scattered with the remains of his late poodles, Itchy and Scratchy, when his time is up.

He said: "Itchy and Scratchy were there in my darkest moments – if they hadn’t been, I wouldn’t be here to write this.

“When I die, I’ll be cremated and my ashes will be mixed with Itchy and Scratchy, and scattered by a particular tree.

"My ashes will become part of the soil. I’ll become part of the fabric of my dogs, and of the woods that we loved so much.”
