Arriving on Netflix a little earlier this year, original series 13 Reasons Why is based on Jay Asher’s novel of the same name, and has quickly become one of the most talked-about shows the streaming service has ever seen.

Telling the story of Hannah Baker, who decides to take her own life but records a series of cassette tapes for those who were involved in her coming to her decision before she goes ahead with the act, it’s an emotional yet compelling series of 13 episodes, introducing viewers to various characters that held influence over the troubled character.

Being so popular, there’s now no doubt the series will be picked up for a second season, and star of the show Christian Navarro who plays Tony is hoping that this will be the case.

Speaking to EW, he said: “We have secrets, none that I choose to reveal right now, but hopefully we get to explore it in a second season. I think there’s a lot more to the story.”

Adding of his character who held onto Hannah’s tapes, but didn’t have one dedicated to him, he said: “I think that he’s culpable in a lot of ways for holding onto these tapes, so he’s got to pay some sort of consequence in that regard.”

If the show does follow the same sort of format in a second season, a new protagonist will have to be found, which many believe will by the Tyler character, played by Devin Druid.

At the end of season 1, we saw the teen packing a variety of weapons and ammunition into a sealed chest in his bedroom; could he be planning something traumatic for his classmates who have ridiculed him?

13 Reasons Why season 1 is available now on Netflix.
