The 'Dracula' co-stars first appeared together in the BBC's three-part drama last year and will now be brought back together for Stephen Merchant's upcoming comedy.

A TV insider told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: “Fans of 'Dracula' will be thrilled to see the show’s two main stars on the same show together - even though it’s a very different kind of drama."

'The Offenders' follows seven strangers who are forced together to complete a Community Payback sentence in Bristol and they come face-to-face with the city's most dangerous criminal gang.

Claes and Dolly - who played the titular role and the heroic Van Helsing in 'Dracula', respectively - will stick to their character types for the BBC sitcom as he is set to portray a gangster and Dolly will play the "daughter of an elderly man".

The source added: “One similarity is that Claes is taking on the mantle of a baddie again, this time as a terrifying London gangster called The Dean.

“And once again Dolly plays a good character – the daughter of an elderly man on a community payback scheme which is at the heart of the show."

The comedy-drama also features Rhianne Barreto, Gamba Cole, Darren Boyd, Clare Perkins, and Christopher Walken in his first British television role.

And Richard E. Grant and Julia Davis have joined the comedy show with the former taking on the role of The Earl, a member of the landed gentry and the father of Eleanor Tomlinson’s wayward character, Gabby, while Julia will play Rita, head of human resources at Stephen's character Greg's company.

BBC One has picked up the drama in the UK, and the series will be distributed by Amazon Prime Video in the US, Canada and Australia.
