The 'Coronation Street' star - who celebrates two decades as Fiz next month - admitted she was upset when she found out her on-screen relationship is set to be rocked by Alan Halsall's character having an affair.

She's quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "I was gutted initially because to potentially not have scenes with Alan again, or nice scenes with him, is sad.

"I love being in that house and I love working with Alan."

The cobbles couple are beloved by fans, and they even live in Jack and Vera Duckworth's old home at Number 9.

However, the 37-year-old actress is still happy to be given such an emotional storyline, which will see them dominate an episode with the "longest scene" she's been part of.

She added: "I’m honoured the writers have given us the storyline. We’ve got the longest scene I’ve filmed. It’s 18 and a half pages long.

“Normally, five pages is long. So it’s about a fifth of the episode we’re doing this one scene.”

Fiz clashes with Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu) after she grows close to Tyrone after staying at their home, and she's devastated when her long-term partner admits he has feelings for her.

Jennie said: “Fiz thinks that they’ve just not got married because they’ve not got round to it and if she sorts it all out, then he’d think it was a great idea.

"But when he says he doesn’t like the idea it’s a bit of a shock.”

The soap star previously revealed she is most at ease when she's performing with her on-screen family - including Alan - and she gets nervous in other environments.

She explained: "I really feel comfortable when I'm doing my scenes with Alan and the family, but when I go to another set that I'm not used to it feels a bit scary."
