The 'Corrie' star, who plays Shona Ramsey, is remaining tight-lipped on the forthcoming plot - which comes after her character's on-screen significant other David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) was raped by Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) this year - but she would be "excited" if Shona went "off the rails".

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "There are some really good stories coming up for Shona, and obviously I can't tell you much about them.

"But it's been nice to have some light relief since the rape storyline, so I'm really looking forward to getting back into the nitty gritty drama. It's nice to be able to do both.

"I'd like to see her go off the rails again. From what she came in as I've been allowed to explore so many different colours to her personality.

"I'd be excited to get a bit bad again."

Julia celebrated her two-year 'Corrie' anniversary earlier this month, and she still hasn't got used to starring opposite Helen Worth (Gail Platt) and Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts).

She said: "I don't think you can ever get used to working with the legends. Helen is fantastic. The energy she gives and the support, it runs through the Platt family like rock.

"And obviously Sue - they're both amazing women."

Whichever direction Shona goes in the coming months, Julia loves playing different sides to her character.

She added: "I love her, I think she's great. She's a joy to play. Whether she's messing around with David, or serving bacon and cups of teas in Roy's. I really like her as a character."

Shona first appeared in Weatherfield as the mother of David's wife Kylie Platt's (Paula Lana) murderer Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison), which she found out about after she stole David's wallet during a night out.

However, Shona has gone to on land a job in Roy's Rolls and has become a popular member of the local community.
