Craig Revel Horwood has said he won't let his hip operation keep him from the judging panel on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The outspoken star was due to go under the knife to be fitted with a titanium joint next February after "years of doing the can-can and the splits" weakened his bones, but the operation will now take place in just two weeks' time.

Craig insists he won't let the pain stop him from delivering cutting comments from the BBC One competition's judging panel every Saturday evening - even if he is wheelchair-bound.

Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the professional dancer said: "I'm having the operation on Sunday and I will be back at Strictly the following Saturday night.

"I hope to be walking but if I have to be brought on in a wheelchair, that's fine. As long as my mouth is still working, the show will go on."

Craig, 48, also made a shocking revelation about how he made his debut in the dance world thanks to a "sugar daddy" 26 years his senior.

According to the MailOnline, he said: "It was this man who was 43 and I was 17. He said I will pay for your classes but you come away with me and we do the dirty.

"I suppose that could be compared to a lady getting engaged and getting a great big sparkling Tiffany ring - and then breaking off the engagement but keeping the ring."

Craig admitted he was called names like "rent boy" as a teenager in his native Australia because of his older lover - named as 'Mr X' for legal reasons - but was pleased the man "saved" him from a dead-end career.
