With DC keeping its television and movie universes separate, there have always been various interpretations of the same character in both of these worlds, but rumours that movies will always trump television and even at times, cause a character and plans for said character to be wiped from television completely.

One example of this is the way in which TV series Arrow had to stop delving into the Task Force X side of the DC universe because of the Suicide Squad movie being in the works.

Now that Deathstroke has been revealed as one of the main members of the cast in the upcoming Ben Affleck-directed Batman movie, fans are wondering whether actor Manu Bennett could ever come back to Arrow as the character.

Speaking to a fan at Salt Lake Comic-Con, Amell said of how the television and feature sides of DC come together: "That's actually something that people bring up on a regular basis… That DC has told us you can't have or you must get rid of [this character]. That's not how that works.

"Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns - the people at Warner Bros. on the feature side, the people at Warner Bros. on the television side - are all in the business of making the best products for fans. Just because there may or may not be a Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe doesn't mean Manu Bennett can't exist on our show."

Arrow returns for its fifth season on Wednesday, October 5 on The CW.
