The 60-year-old star is in the early stages of recovery following surgery to remove two tumours, and while she has been told by her doctors she does not need a mastectomy, she knows Paul, who died in 2016 aged 77, would love her "whatever [she] looked like" if she had to have further surgery.

Speaking on 'This Morning' she said: "When I go through anything that makes me unhappy I always think what would he have done, but this time I missed him more because I thought if I have to have a mastectomy, I thought if Paul was here I know whatever I looked like he would love me.

"But now I'm on my own, I really missed him because if he was alive I wouldn't have that extra worry really."

The former 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant went on to explain that while she's had a difficult few weeks, she tries to maintain a rational and positive outlook on life.

She said: "I just think in the last three years I've gone through more stress than I've ever been through in my life, but there have been moments.

"I suffered from anxiety at one point because I was really worried about my future. I don't worry about anything until I've got to worry about it.

"When I went for the results my sister said, 'Why aren't you worrying?' And I said, 'When I've got something to scared of, I will worry,' but over the last three years there have been times when I've found it quite hard to cope."
