The 52-year-old actress made a dramatic comeback as Anna Windass in last night's episode (31.05.18), and admitted she was even surprised by some of the goings on in the ep, which saw her come to the rescue of her son Gary Windass (Mikey North) and his girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien).

She wrote on Twitter: "Wow @itvcorrie that was a surprise even for me! What's in store for 'Anna' tomorrow!Thrilled our lovely #coronation street fans are on the edge of their seats! (sic)"

Debbie confirmed to a fan that she shot some of the dramatic scenes in April.

When a supporter asked Debbie whether she saw her leaving the 'Corrie' set a few months ago, the former 'Salvage' star admitted it was indeed her.

In response to the fan, she wrote: "Yep. That was me! Didn't want to spoil the surprise (sic)"

Debbie departed the cobbles in January after her character Anna was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) after she was framed by evil serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).

Following her exit, she said: "So this is me now, I've finished my last ever scene on the cobbles this evening and I just want to say all our viewers out there.

"Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for supporting Anna, for being with her on the whole of the journey, for sending all your love and just basically for being amazing and being part of our wonderful Corrie family because that's what we think of you, our viewers, so from me it's goodbye and wish me well in prison!"

Tonight's (01.06.18) 'Corrie' episode will see evil Phelan's downfall finally play out after years of terrorising the Weatherfield residents.
